Founded by longtime friends Kelly Urban and Misty Zollars, Amo denim was created out of a love for vintage jeans, and was aptly named Amo, the Latin root for love. Kelly and Misty loved the look of vintage, but they found that the fabric and fit wasn't nearly as comfortable as they would like them to be. So they set out to merge the best of all worlds and created a line of jeans, trousers, jackets and tees that have a vintage design aesthetic combined with comfortable fabrics and an impeccable fit. We love this brand for their insane attention to detail that really makes them stand out from the rest of the pack. Not to mention the fact that their styling is spot on when it comes to designing jeans that are exactly what the modern woman is looking for. The line is produced in Los Angeles with the utmost care and craftsmanship.
There are so many jean designers out there. It can be quite difficult for a denim brand to stand out in this saturated market, but Amo denim seems to have no problem in that department. We love that they have taken a vintage pair of mens overalls for instance, and have redesigned them to be flattering on women. The Ally overall is the perfect example. They're made from the softest luxury denim fabric, that is perfectly faded and drapes beautifully, then they have cropped the length to make them look a bit more stylish and have tailored them for women to make them more flattering while still retaining the comfort and relaxed look of a vintage pair of denim overalls. The cropped length makes them super easy to wear all summer long with a tee and flats and we could easily imagine wearing them year round with boots and a cardigan.
The same vintage twist can be seen in their popular Army wide leg pants. We love the look of a vintage pair army pants, but the fit and fabric can be uncomfortable, not to mention that they are mostly made for men which means they usually gap at the waist. It's not easy to find a pair that fits the way you want without alterations. Amo has solved this issue with their take on this wardrobe staple. The Amo Army pant has been perfectly updated with a slimming high waist, cropped length and a flattering wide leg. The pockets mimic the vintage Army pants we adore, and they are perfectly placed to enhance a woman's body. We also love the soft cotton canvas fabric.
We've never imagined a waistband of a jean shaped like a tulip, but we sure do love them. We literally gasped the first time we saw them on Instagram. The tulip waistband is pure genius! These slim fitting jeans feature an overlapping curved waistband that mimics the petals on a tulip flower. The effect is a super flattering high waist silhouette that enhances your curves and has a slimming effect on the waist. Amo denim finishes this style off with a cropped straight leg that makes them super versatile in your wardrobe. These jeans are SO chic.
We have to admit we're a little obsessed with the Amo Paperbag pant. Imagine the perfect homage to the 80s without the horrible acid wash that was so prevalent back then. This modern day Paperbag pant by Amo denim has been updated with a high waist and luxury denim fabric that drapes beautifully making them not only stylish, but super comfortable. We love the self tie belt, the flawlessly faded color of the adored wash and their luxuriously soft denim fabric.
This update on a classic has been one of our best-sellers. We love the high waist and patch pocket placement front and back. They remind us of a vintage pair of jeans, but they are very modern when it comes to the details. We love how flattering these are and think they look very cute with a Breton striped tee and flats for summer or a chunky turtleneck and boots for winter.
